We are currently looking for an experienced bar manager to join our dedicated team and create an extensive high-end offering to complement and build upon our quality drinks and restaurant, as our business grows.

Role Overview

The main aim of the role is to manage the bar service to a consistently high standard, ensuring that the bar staff provide excellent service that exceeds customer expectations.


Manage and oversee all bar areas within the BAR, LOUNGE, RESTAURANT, & CLUB while supporting all staff in conjunction with the senior managers. Manage and develop staff by adopting a hands-on approach to all aspects of operational responsibility, undertaking floor duties as a matter of routine. Ensure all staff deliver excellent service standards on a consistent basis. Maximize upselling opportunities and spend per head at every opportunity. To ensure all bars are thoroughly cleaned daily and maintained at a consistent hygienic level. Program, update, and maintain the tills, ensuring that problems are efficiently dealt with as they arise. Undertake opening and closing duties for service areas, ensuring till floats are accurate. Ensure adequate staffing levels are maintained in all areas and within budget. Ensure adequate stock controls are in place and that stock results and supporting data are reported as required. Develop and implement effective stock management processes, minimizing waste and loss. Ensure cash and security policies, administration, and financial procedures are adhered to, and relevant data is delivered in an accurate and timely manner. To deal with any customer's complaints or queries in an attentive and courteous manner. Training and induction of bar staff to learn and maintain a full knowledge of all menus, wines, and beers To assist in managing and maintaining a staff training programme covering all aspects of menus, drinks lists, tariffs, licensing, service standards, health and safety, and cleaning standards. To ensure bar cleaning duties in assigned areas are completed to a high standard. Responsible for the cash floats, daily takings, and the daily reconciliation of each as set out in company procedures. Ensure a minimum loss of stock and equipment through breakage, waste, and theft. To set up and close down the building as per management procedures To help create a friendly and fun working atmosphere To manage the day to day running of the restaurant offering a high level of service to all customers To manage the set up and clearing down of event spaces To liaise with event / party hosts Basic audio tech set up / management To assist in the selling and supply liquor and/or light refreshments Cellar management in line with company procedures Screening and vetting must be done.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage the Bar service to consistently high standards to exceed customer expectations
  • Support the Food & Beverage Manager by working to exceed sales and revenue targets
  • Ensure your team maximizes all sales opportunities
  • Deal with any escalated customer queries to a successful resolution
  • Responsible for the accurate management of all transactions during service
  • Manage staff schedules, stock and waste levels
  • Act as a role model for your staff proactively looking for things to do in quiet periods – direct them to do the same through leading by example
  • Manage, train, develop and coach team members
  • Train and develop new staff to become effective team members as quickly as possible
  • Ensure staff attend mandatory health & safety training
  • Motivate and engage team members to continuously improve performance
  • Maintain consistently high standards of customer service
  • Covering Duty Manager shifts as and when required
  • Conduct monthly stocktaking of beverage items
  • Liaise with events/wedding coordinator on required bar setup and required drinks levels
  • Any other duties as directed

Person Specification

Essential

  • Previous experience of working as a Front of House Supervisor managing a team of people
  • Bar experience
  • Excellent management and delegating skills
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • The ability to respond quickly and positively to a range of work situations
  • Flexible approach to days and hours of work to meet the needs of the business

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working as a Front of House Supervisor in a four star hotel and conference venue
  • Previous cocktail making experience
